Studying at the University of Liège
The Studies
In Belgium university degrees cover four or five years (6 in veterinary medicine, 7 in medicine).
Since September 2004 the University of Liège has gradually introduced a curriculum based on generally recognised stages (bachelor's degree, master's degree, doctorate), including a more sustained international exchange policy and mobility within the institution and between different institutions, using a European credit system in order to valorise knowledge acquisitions in a modular system.
The "Bologna process" provides an opportunity for the University of Liège to ensure that its learning programmes are recognised on a European scale, and thus to draw foreign students, scholars and scientists. The integration of our university into the Eruopean space of Higher Education will make it possible for our students to better benefit from European exchange programmes and to valorise their expertise on a European job market.
For more information on the Bologna process as implemented at ULg and on available courses, check http://www.ulg.ac.be/bologne/
Within the same academic year and except duly motivated reasons that the Vice-Chancellor has accepted, students cannot take more than two examinations on the same course. As a rule, except when the Faculty board has decided otherwise, the second assessment occurs during the third set of exams.
Examiners convey the results of their assessments using a figure between 0 and 20, with 10 out of 20 being the pass threshold for individual courses and 12 out of 20 the pass threshold for the year.
