Everyday life
Internet and email for students

Internet access

How?

  • Once you have registered at the Erasmus office, you receive a student card with an identifier and a password.

Where?

Connection

  • Once they are activated you can use them to browse on the Internet and check your email
    • from most computers at the university
    • from a portable computer (sockets are available in several rooms)
    • from a computer at home.

Initiating an email address

The University suggests that you initiate an email address on the pattern  firstname.name@student.ulg.ac.be.  It would of course be free. We are aware that you may already have another (or several other) free addresses. So, is this really useful ? It is !

A lot of messages (some professionally useful from tutors or the administration, some just friendly about things to do, price discounts at concerts and the like) will be sent or forwarded to you by the University, and the only address we know is your university email.

ULg email boxes are beyond any comparison with other free providers. They have a storage capacity of 20 Mb and are protected by a double anti-virus software and two anti-spam filters. You can even have your mail automatically forwarded on to another address. Besides, it's easy ! You can create your address on line.

Computer rooms

The University of Liège provides students with computers equiped with Internet software in more than 50 computer rooms offering altogether some 600 computers.
