Studying at the University of Liège
Language requirement

At the University of Liège courses are given in French. We insist that our exchange students should have a good knowledge of French to attend classes and take exams.  Therefore we ask you to attach to your application form a document from your university testifying that your level of French is good enough.

French courses and language practice sessions are organised in the summer and during the academic year by the Département de français de l'Institut supérieur des Langues Vivantes (ISLV).

Language programme preparing students for university studies:

3 september to 14 september 2007 (5 ECTS)
Registration fee for exchange students: 50 €
25 January to 1 February 2008 (no ECTS)
Registration fee for exchange students: 30 €

Evening classes

S1 : 1 October to 26 January 2008
S2 : 11 February to 6 June 2008
S1 or S2 = 5 ECTS
S1 + S2 = 5 ECTS only.
Two-hour classes twice a week.
Registration fee for exchange students: 50 €

Assessment of competence levels

When you are at the University of Liege you will most probably wish to improve your knowledge of French by attending classes organised by the French dept of the Institut Supérieur des Langues Vivantes.
