Catalysis

The Laboratory of Industrial Chemistry has developed its activities from its own expertise in the field of heterogeneous catalysis, particularly from the set-up and tuning of tricklebed reactors. In these reactors, the catalyst is a stack of solid beads and is subject to the descending flow of liquid and gases which contain the reactives.

The laboratory has carried on with this activity, gaining a significant experience in hydrogenation and oxidation reactions under pressure. This is representative of many catalytic reactions and covers many aspects of chemistry, from petrochemistry to food chemistry, safety of industrial units and environmental impact. The national and international acknowledgement of this expertise led the laboratory to conduct various researches for various industrials, from Belgium and abroad. These research contracts bore upon understanding of chemical processes involved in the complex reactive mechanisms or the tuning of new processes.
