Safety

Concerned under many circumstances by safety with the catalytic processes, the Laboratory of Industrial Chemistry progressively grew a new experience. Initialy, each new safety problem for a new bench was analysed independently, as a step in the project. However, the importance of the safety considerations in chemistry of reactions, mainly with exothermal reactions, and the experience grasped in the field prompted to study safety of chemical systems as a specific matter. This knowledge and experience allowed to conduct many experiments with a high potential hazard. Studies have been and are dedicated to the control of inherent chemical process hazards, mostly on the thermal runaway of reactors.

The laboratory will gather all the necessary tools to identify the hazards of chemical reactivity, the evaluation of the consequences of runaway reactions and the design and sizing of safety systems mitigating the consequences.
