WHAT?                It is the 2011 annual meeting of the IGCP 580 project (within the framework of the International Geoscience Programme of UNESCO-IUGS) .

WHERE?             In Prague (Czech Republic) .  Venue: Institute of Geology AS CR, v.v.i., Rozvojova 269, 165 00 Prague - Suchdol; GPS: 50.1267278, 14.3825444 (new building from 2010, i.e., visible on the latest satellite images only) .

WHEN?               On October 12-18, 2011 . This year’s meeting is coming up soon .  Adapt your work schedule to allow you to attend . An interdisciplinary character of this magnetic conference is unique !

THEMES?           All what is around "Time, Magnetism, Records, Systems and Solutions", e.g., * applications of magnetic susceptibility on old rocks (plus young rocks and recent-present times), MS stratigraphy, magnetostratigraphy; * magnetic methods in environmental research; * similar approaches in material sciences (macro- and microscale); * magnetism in biology, medical science; * records of processes, analyzing the signal, and understanding the behavior of complex systems – general and technical themes across the disciplines .

PROGRAM:        October 11 (Tuesday) - Participants’ arrival, October 12 – 13 (Wednesday – Thursday) - Thematic sessions till the lunch-time break, training sessions and special lectures in the afternoon (October 12: special evening session: roasted pig & wurst barbecue); October 14 (Friday) - The conference field trip to the Barrandian area (Silurian, and Lower, Lower-Middle Devonian); October 15 (Saturday) - IGCP 580 business meeting, workshops, additional sessions or free day; October 16 – 18 (Sunday – Tuesday) - Three days for the field work (sampling and measurements), e.g., in the Barrandian Area (Bohemian Silurian and Devonian facies) and/or Moravian Karst (Moravian Devonian and  Carboniferous facies) – need to be selected in the registration form .
